Forever the Optimist

Hey, it's been a while. This past week was nothing too special, so I won't talk about that. My family came down to visit yesterday, which was really nice. I got to take them out to dinner at Johnny Carino's last night, and then we went to church and breakfast at Waffle House (another classy joint, only the best for my family). As if that wasn't great enough, I got to drive a Charger R/T, which was a blast. A 5.7L Hemi V-8 will make any guy's day.

I really hope I start getting busy this week, and there's no reason I shouldn't be. A lot of new equipment for the Camry Hybrid is coming in the next month, and that requires plenty of prep work. Now, why do I want to get busy, you might ask?

I need to take my mind off other matters. I talked to my ex-gf on Friday night for the first time in a while. It wasn't awkward or anything, just different. From the sound of it though, she's doing very well for herself, and I couldn't be happier for her. She deserves nothing but happiness and kindness from everyone around her, and that was something I couldn't give her.

Nonetheless, I feel fortunate to have lived the life I've lived so far. I try and take nothing for granted, but that's just impossible. I've been meaning to do more volunteer work since I've been down here, and I think I'm going to take the first step this week and start contacting some organizations. If I could do it, I'd drop everything and join the Red Cross in an instant. But that will have to wait for a few years, at least until I graduate.

Hope everyone has a good week, make the most of it.
